Entry & Visitor Guidelines

To help protect our collection and ensure everyone has a great experience, we ask all visitors to follow these guidelines:

While You’re Here

  • The Museum of Fire is a smoke‑free and vape‑free site.

  • Please stay within public areas and follow staff directions at all times.

  • Children under 12 must be accompanied and actively supervised by an adult.

  • Running, climbing on exhibits, or using furniture for unintended purposes is not permitted.

  • Food and drink are not permitted inside exhibition spaces.

  • Animals are not permitted, except registered assistance animals.

Our Collection

  • Please do not touch or interfere with collection objects unless signage indicates that an exhibit is interactive.

  • Some fire engines are designed for children to climb into and explore—look for signage or ask our friendly staff.

Photography

  • Personal photography and video are welcome.

  • Commercial photography, filming, or drone use requires prior written approval.

Safety & Security

  • CCTV operates throughout the museum for the safety of visitors, staff, and collection items.

  • Bags may be inspected on entry.

  • Prohibited items include weapons (real or toy), firearms, aerosols, laser pointers, balloons, and any item deemed unsafe by staff.

  • Personal belongings remain the responsibility of the visitor.

We reserve the right to refuse entry or ask visitors to leave if these conditions are not followed.

Ticket Information

  • Adults: 18 years and over

  • Children: 2–17 years

  • Infants: Under 2 years (free entry)

Tickets may be purchased online or at the museum. Some events or activities may have additional conditions or requirements.

Planning Your Visit

  • Please check opening hours and event details before purchasing tickets.

  • Occasionally, some areas of the museum may be closed due to maintenance or exhibition changes.

  • Tickets are generally non‑refundable, however admission tickets may be transferred to another date if you contact us prior to your visit.

The museum aims to improve accessibility and follows relevant accessibility guidelines where possible.

Payments

  • Prices are in Australian dollars and include GST where applicable.

  • We accept Visa, Mastercard, EFTPOS, and cash.

  • Card surcharges apply in line with Australian Consumer Law.

Merchandise

  • All items are subject to availability.

  • Some products are exclusive or produced in limited runs.

  • Colours and sizing may vary slightly between production batches.

Restricted Items

Some Fire + Rescue NSW branded items are available only to current or retired FRNSW staff, with identification required.

Shipping, Returns & Exchanges

Shipping

  • Orders are dispatched from Sydney via Australia Post.

  • Delivery timeframes are estimates only.

  • The museum is not responsible for postal delays or loss once items are dispatched.

Returns

  • Faulty or incorrect items should be reported within 14 days of delivery.

  • Returns are handled in line with Australian Consumer Law.

  • Change‑of‑mind returns are not guaranteed and may be offered at the museum’s discretion.

Certain items cannot be returned, including worn clothing, earrings, used items, and sale products.

Gift Vouchers

  • Gift vouchers are valid for three years from the date of purchase unless otherwise stated.

  • Vouchers can be used in person only at the Museum of Fire.

  • They cannot be redeemed for cash or used in the online shop.

  • Lost or stolen vouchers cannot be replaced.
