About the event

Join Ben Dickson, Acting CEO, as he explores the vital role water has played in shaping firefighting in NSW. From the arrival of reticulated water and hydrants in Sydney during the 1840s to the slower rollout in regional areas, water access was key to the growth of fire brigades. Ben will also highlight how Fire and Rescue NSW’s role has expanded to include flood response, water rescues, and hazardous material removal. The event will also feature the induction of the 2025 Life Member and presentation of the annual History Award. Don’t miss this insightful online event for History Week 2025!
